The News

Spend at least half an hour browsing the news sites below. Which is most appealing to you and why? Can you tell the reputations of these various sites? (Yes, one of them is a parody.) In your opinion, which would deliever the news the most accurately?
After you have spent some time at each site, post a comment here explaining some of the most interesting things you read or saw and say why.
P.S. (Perhaps be ready to discuss these issues on Oct. 20. We have a guest teacher that day from the department. Otherwise, we might spend the time as group work preparing your Web quest projects. Cleveland will meet with you this Saturday.) Thanks, Russ.

I already knew two of them, Fox news and CNN.com, I even see them at sky. They are U.S corporate-sponsored medias, could be creidible and trustworthy, however, since they are sponsored, I think they could give half truths.
I didn´t know Aljazeera, I like this site as they defend the press freedom, giving not priority to commercial or political considerations over profesional ones; they could be honest, fairness and with credibility since they have consideration to the feelings of victims of crime, wear, prosecution and disaster. Democracy now, they are looking for true democracy and deliver the news most accurately due to the fact that it has access to the people and it is not a U.S. corporate-sponsored media, it´s an award-winning news program. even more incude independant and international journalists as well as ordinary people from around the world.
I like very much the Onion as it is a satirical newspaper, I spent a lot of time on reading it, then I realize is a CNN.com´s parteners so no too reliable.

Martha- thank you so much for your excellent response to this post! I think your observations are right on. While one can't help but have opinions and reactions to these news sources and the kinds of stories they broadcast, I still like to read or watch a bit of the same stories from each one, just to have an idea of how the news is getting "out there." Still, when the news seems too depressing, I love spending time reading the Onion. It's hysterical!
